Birthday Dinner in Claremont
We were in Southern California on August 25th and celebrated Georgia's birthday with a dinner at Harvard Square in Clarement. We were joined by Melissa, Keith, Kellen and Georgia's sister Liz. It was an adult dinner so grandson Cairn was at home with a baby sitter. It was 112 in Rancho Cucamonga that day so we ate outside on the restaurant patio after it cooled down a bit.
Indian Market in Santa Fe, New Mexico
We visited with one of Hugh's Naval Academy classmates, Mike Spear and his wife Bonnie, in Sant Fe August 19-23 for the annual Indian Market. Indian market brings Native Americans from all over the country to Sante Fe to show and sell their crafts. After an enjoyable morning at the market, we went to see one of the local foundaries cast a bronze statue. Besides the Market and the casting, we enjoyed several hikes. One of the hikes had Hugh and Mike climb up Sun Mountain.
Emily Schall Visits
Hugh's niece, Emily, and her friend Emily Sowell visited us in August for a vacation. The two Emilys did about everything you could in a week including doing all of San Francisco' typical sights, visiting the Sonoma wine country, visiting the de Young museum, visiting the California Academy of Science, going to Point Reys National Seashore, and visiting the tidal pools on the California coast south of San Francisco. It was fun having both of them here.

Beach Week in Coronado
We spent the week of July 25th to August 1st enjoying a week at the Del Coronado Hotel in San Diego. Grandson Kellen took surfing lessons and his brother, Cairn, enjoyed the beach and the pool. In addition, we celebrated our 43rd anniversary having a wonderful dinner at Oceans 1500 restaurant with our daughter and son-in-law.
