Selected Pictures for 2015

As we near the end of the year, we try to find pictures that are a good representation of the year. This year they are of a Thanksgiving gathering of the family at Georgia's sister's home, a picture of our bicycle group in jelly bean colors, our daughter Melissa and youngest grandson, Lain, on the "Merry-Go-Round" at the living Desert in Palm Desert, and Georgia and I at her 50th college reunion at UCSB. 8th Company Reunion, Palm Desert

During the week of October 26th, Georgia and I hosted a reunion of my USNA Class of 1963 company mates in Palm Desert. Our group has been getting together for over 15 years and this was the second time we hosted it. The week included the Palm Springs Tram, visits to the Palm Springs Art and Air Museums, a visit to "Sunnylands", the Annenberg historic estate, and three dinner occasions. For the "Sunnylands" tour our group of 33 was broken into small groups of 6-7 people so that we could get a more intimate tour of the estate. The estate was definitely a "high light" of the week. Here are some pictures of the week:

Tour 'd Organics

On Saturday, August 9th, Georgia, Yvonne, Georgia's sister, Jake, a family friend, and I drove to Sebastopol, California to participate in a 16 mile charity bike ride through Sonoma County's countryside. It was a hot day (90+)and we made it through the ride with only one flat tire and a little heat exhaustion. After the ride we were served a nice Mexican lunch. During the ride we had two stops at local farms where we could get some nourishment for the next leg of the ride. Here are some pictures of our ride:

Grandson Cairn Visits

Every summer we take both of our older grandsons for a week visit, called Camp GG & Papa Hugh. This year after we returned from Washington with our oldest grandson, Kellen, his family joined us to see the play "Peter Pan" on Mount Tamalpais. After the play, we all spent three days at Lake Tahoe enjoying the lake at Kings Beach. When our daughter, son-in-law and other grandsons left for home, Cairn returned with us to Novato for Camp GG & Papa Hugh. High on his list of things to do that week were going to tennis camp, taking a train ride to Sacramento to see the California Train Museum, swimming, and going to the San Francisco zoo. We were able to accomplish all of these items and go for a bike ride in Tiberon to see the antique car show. On June 26th I flew to Southern California with him so that he could rejoin this family after a great week. Here are pictures of his camp:

May 2015 East Coast Trip, Philadelphia, Maine, & NYC

Georgia and sister-in-law, Debbie, went to Philadelphia for an art tour on May 8th. Since the girls were in Philadelphia having fun, my brothers, Dave and Jim, and I decided to go to Maine and hike in Arcadia National Park, spend a day in Boston, and then join the ladies in NYC for the weekend. In addition to seeing two plays ("It Should Have Been You" and "An American in Paris") we were able to visit the 9-11 museum, see the "Woman in Gold" painting at the "Neue" gallery, and walk the Highline on west side. It was an enjoyable week for everyone and although the weather didn't quite cooperate, we still had fun. Below are some pictures of the week:

Georgia's 50th College and Pi Beta Phi Reunion

On Wednesday, April 22, we drove to Santa Barbara to celebrate Georgia's 50th UCSB and Pi Beta Phi reunion. We stayed with Susan and John Grube, Sue was one of Georgia's sorority sisters, and Georgia had arranged for a dinner, luncheon, and a visit to the Pi Phi house. On Saturday, we went to the "Taste of UCSB" at the science green on the campus. It was a wonderful weekend and Georgia got to get together with some of her sorority that she hadn't seen in 50 years. Here are some pictures of the weekend: Georgia with Sue Grube on the right and Vicky Yarwood on the left Picture of the Sorority Women, Circa 1965. Georgia is on the Right.
